Product adoption isn’t just a usage metric—it’s a retention lever. At SignalPET, every clinic is onboarded with both SignalRay and SignalStat. But while SignalRay runs automatically, SignalStat requires an extra step. And when customers don’t use both, they’re less likely to stick around.
Or Assael, SignalPET’s Customer Success Manager, saw that firsthand. To improve retention, he knew they needed to drive deeper adoption of both products—starting by nudging more users to take that first action with SignalStat.
🏆 The solution
To reduce churn and encourage product stickiness, Or leaned into a more personalized, behavior-based approach. Using Appcues, he built in-app experiences that appeared when—and where—they mattered most. Instead of relying on one-size-fits-all announcements, he used targeting to reach users who hadn’t submitted a SignalStat request and nudged them to act.
“We’re using in-app messages to increase engagement and drive adoption of SignalStat. But we’re also using tooltips to call out features—and lean into our UI, which is our most-complimented part of the product.”

The team mapped out where users were already active—like viewing SignalRay results—and used messages to prompt the next step: submit a SignalStat consult.

Or built in-app messages that trigger based on user behavior—for example, if a clinic has taken several X-rays but hasn’t submitted a SignalStat request.
“If you’ve taken 5 X-rays but haven’t used your Stat credits, we’ll remind you—‘Submit your first Stat request and get results within 45 minutes.’”

3. Closed the loop with feedback
Once customers started using SignalStat, Or added a Tooltip asking for feedback directly on the report. It’s a subtle way to capture insights in the moment—and an easy next step in the adoption journey. By prompting users to share what they think, SignalPET is learning what’s working, what’s missing, and where to go next.

4. Brought more collaborators into the process
As the team builds out more Flows, Or is working closely with marketing, product, and their medical board to make sure every experience is accurate, aligned, and helpful. He’s brought more collaborators into the process—not just for approval, but to create better, more thoughtful engagement across the product.
“We approve every Flow with our board-certified medical director…and I work a lot with the product team to make sure we’re all aligned in the content itself and what we put in Appcues.”

“I put up a message prompting users to submit their first SignalStat request, and they did it right after. It helped me convert a lot of clients to the new subscription—just within a week. It’s been a huge benefit for us.”
That one in-app prompt drove a 36% completion rate—a strong signal that timely nudges can turn intent into action and accelerate activation.
And they’re not stopping there. Or and the team are expanding into usage-based email automation with Appcues Workflows—hoping to finally leave complex HubSpot setups behind.
“We’re trying to make this change... to send smart emails based on usage. HubSpot does allow it, but it’s very complicated.”
