Captain AI (beta) is new inside Appcues. He’s trained on knowledge base content, resources, best practices, and benchmark data, which means he can jump into the work with me—analyzing Flows, cleaning up copy, answering questions.
I’m all for finding ways AI can help me move faster, so here are five real ways I put him to work, plus a few pro tips to get more out of him.
We run feedback surveys regularly, and I want quick takeaways without exporting and slicing the data myself.
The prompt:
Give me a summary of the survey responses from the past 90 days for this Flow: [Feature Release] Folders Feedback (June 2025).
Captain highlights patterns, sentiment, and standout feedback in seconds.
Each month I prepare a team update of what’s happening in Appcues, including which experiences are published and how they’re performing. Now, Captain helps me pull it together faster.
The prompt:
Give me a list of all experiences published in the past month and tell me who published them.
After I have the list, I can dig into the performance of those.
The prompt:
Based on the past 30 days of activity, give me insight into completion rates and user drop-off in this Flow: [Feature Release] Folders - Tour (June 2025). Include recommendations to decrease drop-off.
Together, the answers give me a clear picture of what shipped, how it’s doing, and where I can make optimizations.
It can be hard to write short, on-brand copy—especially where space is limited, like Tooltips. Captain gives me a second pass before it goes live.
The prompt:
Give me copy for a Tooltip that drives awareness and adoption for the ability to filter folders by status, tag, and segment. Use Appcues’ writing style which is friendly, approachable, and short, to the point.
Captain returns options or rewrites what I have to be tighter and closer to our tone. From there I can iterate and drop it in.
Starting a new Flow can mean staring at a blank canvas and it doesn't hurt to have someone there to bounce ideas off of.
The prompt:
I want to build an experience to help users try out a new reporting feature. Suggest a Flow structure, with copy recommendations for each step.
Captain gives me a step-by-step outline I can start dropping into the builder and adjust.
We’re in the middle of a brand refresh, which means updating the look and feel of our in-app messages to match the new system.
The prompt:
Give me the custom CSS needed to add a 2px border in #d5bdff to a tooltip using an HTML block.
Captain gives me clean, usable code that I could plug into our new theme to bring to life what our designer, Tanya, imagined 👇
Captain AI is already helping me prep updates, analyze performance, rewrite copy, and apply styling changes—and this is just the first round. We’ll keep sharing more ways he’s evolving as the feature develops. Can't wait!
